As an active community member part of my photography mission is to assist development in sport and keep children active. I believe in building confidence, promoting amateur athletes to aspire and do great things.
I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of Canadian Tire’s new “We All Play for Canada” national marketing campaign. In association with the Canadian Olympic Committee and a number of amateur sport organizations the project is to encourage play among Canadian youth. Read the full article in Marketing Magazine:

This message is so strong and endearing to me because as a child I was active and driven to be an elite athlete. I worked hard with a wonderful community behind me. They helped to assist with all the issues that deter kids from play. It was because of these people and the innate ambition I desired which helped me to achieve my goals.
Lifestyle changes and motherhood becomes my priority and I see a technological society hypnotize our children. I photograph action to inspire these children to continue to participate. These young athletes love the movement, expression and experiences captured. I laugh now because I only have a couple of photos from my play days. I really wish I had more to reflect on those amazing memories. I have taken hundreds of thousands of photos of amateur athletes and love to share them. I was excited to create a timeless piece when the families of the Dundas Jr. Real McCoys Select Hockey team asked me to do something for the coaches and players. [Post1 | Post2] We had the most magnificent season. Who knew some stuff in the back of my car and impromptu photoshoot in a hockey dressing room could get any better!
Amanda of Blake Talent is Login’s agent. When she heard of the casting for real teams, she contacted me because I am a sport photographer. At the time we thought that the entire team would be casted for the commercial, so a blanket email went out to all interested. Although it was summer and some families were away and committed, we had a 100% response rate of support!
Then five boys from Dundas were selected to be in the “Drum Roll” please……”Canadian Tire” National commercial-Woohoooooooooo! There is no other brand more Canadian than “Canadian Tire”…oh and to represent hockey? WoW! See because LJ (Login) has been doing this for a while, he knows how much work is involved to book. He was on cloud nine to wear the Johnathan “Toews” jersey. LJ cheered the Blackhawks all the way to the Stanley Cup!
Now going back to the photographs, I am in awe that the boys booked from their headshots. We are used to going through Toronto traffic for casting, callbacks and wardrobe etc. Mississauga was a stone throw away and the rain…really what rain? We were so happy to be there and the boys had the time of their life! LJ was thrilled to be with his teammates and doing something he loves with a hockey stick in his hand.
The outreach to the grassroots level is profound. The involvement of genuine athletes playing the game is a real strong inspiring message. As a photographer I will continue to motivate and excite activity within our young athletes.
