Erie Spring Classic Basketball Tournament

I had the opportunity to test the Nikon 300mm, 2.8 inside and outside over the last few weeks. The lens is perfect for capturing action normally not caught on the other end of the court, up close and personal portraits and a tight focus on the action. Finding the most efficient angle to alternate between focal lengths on separate camera bodies may take some practice, but the results are quite rewarding. Thank you Nikon Professional Service (NPS).

You can get a very good sense of competition when you walk in a gymnasium. The coach of this boys team was very animated in his coaching methods. I love watching great basketball and being entertained!

The referees are always fun to get to know and some even ham it up for the camera. Again funny thing...I haven't run into any of my hormonal interference ref"ettes" as of yet.  All my dealings with referees have been with good humor, respect and super accommodating! Hey doesn't this guy look like LL Cool J?

Transway Major Atom Girls played a great final tournament of the season!  It was a very close final game against the SMAC club from Ohio. Coming down to the final minutes Transway settled for Silver (Final: SMAC 33 - Transway 28)

USJN-Indiana Basketball Tournament

Midwest National Qualifier USJN | Spiece Fieldhouse, Fort Wayne-Idiana | April 6th-7th 2013

spiece1 Great Weekend for Hamilton Transway Major Atom Girls Basketball Team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Transway placed 3rd in the tournament with a record 3-1-0. Coach The Hamilton group had a lot of fun with laundry room parties, BBQ's, candy stripe pants, specialized shopping, birthday fun and even some cheerleading. fun

Some of the teams had some size, but in general the basketball was competitive. Another Great Experience!

It was nice to see the girls learn not to fall back at half and start to press. No more baby ball, so the girls can play a zone, double team, use a 28.5 basketball and finally play two-14min halves. Finally Real Basketball!

Mac Dominates OUA Weekly Awards

McMaster quarterback Kyle Quinlan had a sensational game as he led the Marauders to a 45-6 victory over the Calgary Dinos in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport’s Mitchell Bowl on Saturday (Nov. 17).

The win sent the Marauders to the 48th Vanier Cup game this coming weekend. Quinlan’s performance earned him Ontario University Athletics Pioneer Energy Men’s Athlete of the Week.

Quinlan, a fifth-year pivot completed 25 of 35 passes (71% completion rate) for 412 yards. Three of those tosses were for touchdown. When he wasn’t displaying his arm, Quinlan put his legs to use, rushing 11 times for 50 yards (4.5 yard average) and three touchdowns.

His six all-purpose touchdown performance set a CIS playoff record, earning him, not surprisingly, player of the game honours. On top of those two tributes, Quinlan was named OUA offensive football player of the week.

The female athlete award goes to fifth-year guard Sasha Polishchuk (Richmond, B.C.), who was a force for the Laurentian Lady Vees against Windsor and Western this past weekend.

In a losing effort against the top-ranked Windsor Lancers, Polishchuk led the game with 26 points, nine assists and three steals. On Saturday night against the Western Mustangs, Polishchuk found herself dominating the box score once again as she recorded a double-double with 38 points and 11 rebounds. She also added a game-high six assists and two steals as the Lady Vees rolled over the Mustangs 74-64.

Polishchuk currently leads the OUA in scoring with 25 points per game.

Besides Quinlan, two other Marauders were singled out for their efforts Saturday against Calgary. The OUA’s defensive player of the week award goes to cornerback Steve Ventresca.

On a defensive unit that had several stars in the Mitchell Bowl victory, Ventresca (Hamilton) may have shone the brightest. The third-year veteran had nine solo tackles and two pass break-ups, while supplying blanket coverage on the Calgary receiving corps. Coach Stefan Ptaszek said it seemed like Ventresca was all over the field making plays.

On special teams, Trevor Gary was noted for his downfield coverage.

Playing with wild abandon, Gary (Mississauga) led the Marauder kick coverage team. Gary had two solo tackles and was the key player disrupting the Dino return team and not allowing Calgary to gain field position on change of possession.

Composites & Personal Custom Projects

Composites: A photo manipulations process that blend multiple images to obtain a uniform look of one complete piece. I like to take peoples special moments and passions to create an impressionable image that they can enjoy for a lifetime. Composites can be team members photographed individually to produce one poster. They may also be a relevant background to the subject or multiple images to compose a single design.
