Current provincial champions, the Transway Major Atom (grade 6) team recently competed in their first tournament of the regular season. They finished the weekend with a 4-0 record, repeating as gold medallists at the Dundas Dynamo ‘Kick Off’ Tournament. This year’s tournament included teams from Kitchener, Welland, Toronto, Scarborough, and Hamilton. The Transway Major Atom girls do not need to travel far to compete at the highest level of basketball, as four of the top eight teams in the AAA division last year were from the greater Hamilton area, and several were also competing at this tournament The Transway team includes players from Ancaster, Burlington, Dundas, Hamilton and Stoney Creek. Pictured below from left to right are Back Row: Head Coach Ken Bachalo, Aerial Wilson, Emily Martindale, Yasmine Ahl Lamara, Manager Ron Calabrese, and Assistant Coach Carm Bozzo; Middle Row: Meira Morphet, Hanna Kristensen, Alessandra Chiarot, Olivia Mathews, Peyton Connolly, and Claire Sutherland-Case: Front Row: Sara Bozzo, Taylor Marof, Emilie Calabrese, and Kaillie Hall.
